a few weeks ago it snowed heavily here in karlsruhe, which is quite rare. so i took some photos in gutenberg square.

bubur ayam

babi kecap, one of everyone's favorite dishes. even though we knew that we'd've had a 3-course dinner later that day, we couldn't help _not_ to eat a lot. babi kecap is always a treat. :)

first course for the dinner: champignon soup with garlic bread. yummm...

portuguese chicken. i think. ^^;;
this is a shot of my second. i had it with rice first, but it tasted much better with bread. with rice, it tasted a bit bland.
with bread, they bring out each other's taste and aroma.

hehe... can't remember what's in there. brioche, agar-agar, mandarin, vanilla sauce, cream...

one of the things that i love about europe is the old buildings. they're beautiful, especially the detailed carvings.

do you see what i mean?

hmm. perhaps i can ask cheryl about the style or era or whatever it is that you talk about when you're talking 'bout buildings.

sometimes i just try to guess what the carvings meant to be. do you have any idea what this is?

other times i'd wonder if some of the things are really necessary; for example, the pillars on the front of this station. although in this case it's not so bad. next time i go to paris, i'll make sure to take some pictures of panthéon.

the cow on the lower balcony is one of the cows left from the city festival in '98 (according to pixelton--go there to see some of them) or '99 (according to the entry in german wikipedia). should've taken another shot from the side to show the design. -_-

zürich is the largest city in switzerland. it's also the commercial and culture centre, but the capital of switzerland is bern.
about 20-30 minutes from zürich there's a lindt & sprüngli chocolate factory with a museum. i heard that we'd get free chocolate there ^_^
a pity that it opens monday-friday only... meh.

here in germany, there are only red and green lights for pedestrian and cyclists.

hmm...
